Diablo 3 expansion pushed back to 2014 - report

The long-awaited Diablo 3 expansion won't turn up this year, according to an unconfirmed report.

VentureBeat "learned" that the expansion won't release this year fron unnamed sources, but could not elicit a comment from Blizzard on the subject.

Although the expansion had not been dated, Diablo 3 launched in April 2012, and many fans had been hoping for new content by the end of the year.

On the other hand, Blizzard releases tend to be spaced quite far apart, and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm launched in March, Mists of Pandaria turned up in September 2012, and the compoany is working on multiple projects - the recently-stymied Titan; collectible card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft; Blizzard All-Stars; the next episode of StarCraft 2; and, most pertinently to any delays to Diablo 3 content, the console ports of the action RPG.
