Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta gets Fast Collapse playlist, armor balance being looked at

Prior to the launch of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta, Treyarch said that fans will be able to test out a few experimental modes during the beta.

As Treyarch tries to find a good balance as far as gameplay speed and item rarity in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout, be prepared for wildly different experiences throughout the beta.

The first of these is the special Fast Collapse event. This playlist was made available yesterday to all players, and the main difference here is that the circle encroaches at "almost double" the rate of the regular mode.

There are two more events like these being planned, with one of them slowing things down beyond what's available in regular mode. It's not clear what the third one will bring, however.

Alongside the launch of this new playlist, Treyarch also took this opportunity to add a few fixes to the game. Headshots for the Koshka, and Paladin will no longer one-shot players with 200HP.

Level 3 armor, one of the most controversial items in the game, now doesn't ignore explosive damage. On the subject of armor balance, Treyarch said it's testing a couple of other balance changes for armor.

Level 3 armor may transfer some of the damage received to player health in the future, rather than absorb most of it. The rate of level 3 armor spawn is also being looked at, but this is means level 2 armor will require a similar balance pass.

On the UI side, the developer is looking into improving how players interact with the stash and inventory screens, as well as other quality of life improvements with regards to weapon attachments.

One other frustrating issue players run into that's perhaps a little amusing, are uncooperative ladders. Climbing up them seems to be fine, but it's backing down that's not very consistent, with many instead falling and taking damage. This is being looked at, but you may not see a fix in the beta.

Finally, Zombies are getting their attack range nerfed, with a fix for this on the way.

The Blackout beta will be available for the entire weekend, and goes live tomorrow on PC, and Xbox One.
