Warner knew Batman: Arkham Knight was in a "horrible state" on PC for months - report

Warner Bros. allegedly knew the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight was in a "horrible state" but released it anyway, according to quality assurance testers familiar with the matter.

Speaking with Kokatu under the condition of anonymity, the sources stated there were only 10 testers assigned to the title, where are there were over 100 on the QA team for the console versions. One reason for the larger QA team for the PS4 and Xbox One versions was due to "getting it to work on consoles was impossible for months."

"It's pretty rich for WB to act like they had no idea the [PC] game was in such a horrible state," said on of the PC testers. "It's been like this for months and all the problems we see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago."

Reportedly, some testers found up to 100 bugs per day with the developers fixing "what they could" as crunch time was in full force. Once main features were implemented, bug fixing became a priority, but due to the game being finished, in order to catch up testers were restricted as to what they "can or can't bug, to ensure that [the devs] can catch up."

Another source stated bug-checking was set at 720p, which tended to perform better than when played at higher resolutions. So, instead of contracting bug testing out to company's specializing in PC testing on a variety of hardware configurations, Warner kept testing in-house.

The source said this was due to concerns that issues with the PC version would leak.

Warner has yet to respond to various outlets seeking comment regarding the allegations.

Due to all of the issues customers have experienced with the PC version, sales of Arkham Knight on the platform have been suspended until it's working properly. Digital retailers have also started complying with issuing refunds, Green Man Gaming stated from the start if the patch didn't fix the game, customers would get their money back.

The night before the game was released, Rocksteady released a new set of recommended PC settings which were much lower than what was announced back in April.

Last we heard, Rocksteady and Nvidia are working together on PC performance issues. The developer has also provided a list of fixes it plans to implement.
