How to Get Legendary Lieutenant Ship Crew in Assassin's Creed Odyssey
As of right now, heading to powerful enemy forts, and knocking out Captains and other elite fighters is your best chance of recruiting a rare Legendary Lieutenant to your ship. Although, if you’re willing to shell out in the form of Helix Credits, you can recruit other elite crew members for your ship, including Evie Frye, Pegasos, and others.
Easiest Way to Recruit Lieutenants
Firstly, you’re going to have to know where to look on the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey map in order to maximise your chance of discovering a Legendary crew member. We’d recommend heading to an area of the map that’s as close to your character level as possible, and set your sights on a fort (marked in red on your map).

To recruit someone to your ship crew, you firstly have to stealthily approach them from behind without being seen. Secondly, you have to press the left analog stick to temporarily knock them out, or alternatively, knock them out by attacking them with your bare fists. It can be difficult to knock out an especially strong opponent in just a single sneak attack, especially if you’re purposefully heading to higher level areas to recruit more powerful characters.
Of course, you can also use the Spartan Kick ability, unlocked by levelling up. The Spartan Kick brings down enemies non-lethally, ensuring they're knocked out if you can reduce them to zero health with that attack. However, if you kick them off a roof or high building, they can still be killed by the fall.
Once an enemy has been successfully knocked out, you can recruit them to your ship, by simply approaching them, and selecting the ‘Recruit’ option while they’re down and out. Now, when you next tab over to the ‘Ship’ menu, you’ll find the character available under the ‘Lieutenants’ option, where you can assign any new crew member to an available slot. Remember, to unlock more Lieutenant slots for your ship, you’ll have to upgrade your Hull.
