Quantic Dream’s David Cage has said that he initially wanted motion controls for Heavy Rain.

Speaking in a reader Q&A with Norwegian publication Dagbladet (via Joystiq), Cage also said that the firm would announce something regarding the game that will have motion controls ” in the coming weeks”.

“The very first version of [Heavy Rain’s] design was based on motion control, but it was not feasible at the time,” said Cage. “Given that the game was in development as far back as early 2006, it’s interesting to hear that Sony was already talking to developers about the device at the time.

“I have a lot of interest in Sony’s motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about [the new game] in the coming weeks.”

Sony’s “Arc” is expected to be released this fall, and Heavy Rain’s out next week, and there’s a demo for it up on PSN right now.
