Mythic announces the return of Night of Murder event in Warhammer Online

Night of Murder

Mythic has announced the Night of Murder event has returned to Warhammer Online, and those who participate will receive event credit by completing tome tasks such as the “Marked for Death” quest given out by Witch Elves and Witch Hunters. The quest givers are located in every warcamp, scenario, and capital city. Members of enemy realms and NPCs who have been “marked for death” will need to be killed in order to earn rewards such as: Butcher’s Blessing, Khaine’s Caress, or Lobbin’ Noggin and Burning Blood Potion. The Night of Murder event starts tonight and runs through February 22.

Mythic gives post-EA firings status update

warhammeronline8

EA’s been getting a little too friendly with its axe lately, and word is, Mythic was one of the many developers that got in the way of said budding romance. In response, Mythic Executive Producer Jeff Hickman posted a letter to the community, wherein he restated his company’s commitment – first and foremost – to its games.

“With all that is going on within Mythic Entertainment and EA, I would like to take a moment to reinforce the studio’s dedication to both our games and our players. At Mythic, we remain committed to our games and the passionate people who play them – we’re going to continue to deliver the content and service that keeps you playing,” he wrote.

“We want to assure our community that we will maintain the same high level of customer support you’ve come to expect and continue to improve our games with an exciting schedule of patches, live events and new content.”

Keep on fighting the good fight, Mythic. Stormy weather’s ahead, but the ship’s certainly not underwater just yet.

Rumor: EA cut backs have affected at least six publishing arms

layoff

Rumor has it that the 1500 jobs and the dozen or so in-development games that were cut at EA affected studios Pandemic, Maxis and almost the entire Command & Conquer team.

According to a source close to Kotaku, the team working on Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight was notified today that once the game ships some time in 2010, almost the entire team is to hit the road.

While this is not a surprising move by the studio, as loads like it have a tendency to do that once a game ships, the cutbacks also landed blows to EA Maxis, Rupture Studios and Pandemic with remaining workers being relocated to EA Los Angeles and Redwood.

Rumors also state that EA has laid-off staff at Black Box, Mythic Entertainment and Tiburon.

We’ll sent out a mail and see if anyone gets back with us.

Report – EA makes staff cuts in some studios

EA Logo

According to a report by Kotaku, EA has cut loose a fair bit of it’s staff today from some of it’s studios.

It comes as the publisher today bought social games firm Playfish for $300 million.

The studios affected include Tiburon and BlackBox, as well as Mythic and EA’s Redwood studio from their QA department.

We’ll leave EA an email, and see what they say.
