CoD: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer exo suit & gadgets won't be over-powered

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games seems to understand how annoying it is to be ripped apart by killstreaks and over-powered gadgets in previous instalments. Studio co-founder Michael Condrey has revealed the team's approach to multiplayer gadgets, pace and approach in a new interview.

The fresh details come from YouTuber Drift0r, who was called out of the blue by Condrey to discuss Advanced Warfare's multiplayer approach. First off, it's going to be fast. How fast wasn't clear but let's be honest; Call of Duty is already pretty speedy.

On multiplayer gadgets and pacing, Drift0r paraphrased Condrey as saying, "We spent a ton of time designing them and building our game around them. Not yet ready to say exactly how they will be in multiplayer though but we didn’t spend all that design time just for the campaign.

“We wanted to make [movement] feel familiar to other CoD games but also added a few changes. We wanted to make a really fast paced CoD game.”

Condrey stressed that his multiplayer team is largely comprised of Call of Duty pro players and developers, stressing that Sledgehammer is watching and listening to the community closely, and as such, gadgets won't be over-powered.

“Multiplayer is a core part of our game," he added. "It is getting a lot of attention and development time. We are not ready to reveal what gadgets will be in multiplayer.”

The eSports scene is also firmly on Sledgehammer's radar.
