Xbox One releasing in Asia 2014, no mention of Japan yet

Xbox One will launch across various Asian territories in 2014, but there's no word of Japan yet, possibly because Xbox 360 has performed poorly there over the years.

Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft Asia exec Alan Bowman called the company's approach to the continent a "staged approach", and confirmed Xbox One for release in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and India around late 2014.

Bowman added that Microsoft hopes last night's Xbox One announcements will boost popularity of the Xbox brand in the markets mentioned above. He also stated that Xbox 360 has become the most-popular console in Asia, following annual revenue increases of 20% across the region.

Still, it remains to be seen what will happen in Japan.
