World of Warcraft: Blizzard considering micro-payments

World of Warcraft developer Blizzard has confirmed it is looking at ways to add micro-payment items to the MMO.

Posting on the Battle.net forum, community rep Jonathan Brown wrote, "We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game. As part of this process, elements related to this will be appearing on the PTR. We’ll provide additional updates on our plans as development progresses."

Polygon adds that rumours of paid in-game items began after an experience-boosting spell was found on one of the games public test servers

While the World of Warcraft store does already offer additional items, it does not offer am in-game microtransaction model.

What do you make of the above? Is this a worrying step, or is it the way of the future? Let us know below.
