Wii Speak being phased out unless consumer demand increases

wii_speak

Nintendo has decided to only sell Wii Speak at "limited retail locations" unless "consumer demand increases" for the peripheral.

Speaking with Gamespot, the spokesperson said Wii Speak will be phased out with "additional shipments" being made if consumers ask for it.

Until that fateful day, the company is asking Wii users to don the Headbanger Headset instead. However, Wii Speak is still supported and works well with games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Conduit 2 - a peripheral High Voltage was  told not to use for the game.

No word on whether Nintendo plans to close up the Wii Speak Channel as it is currently being "enjoyed by many gamers".

Last month, it was thought the peripheral was no longer being manufactured due to an Amazon stating it had been "discontinued by manufacturer”.

Nintendo responded that this was a listing error on Amazon's part.
