Survey: 34% of developers are creating games for both current and next-gen consoles

GDC has released its annual State of the Industry Survey, and it finds that 34% of developers are making games for both current and next-gen consoles.

According to the survey [PDF], while 34% are developing for both generations, 22% said they’re exclusively targeting current platforms. The survey also showed that 39% weren't sure whether the next title would be released exclusively on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.

That said, 11% of current projects by developers are in the works for PS5, and 9% are targeting Xbox Series X.

23% of developers expect their next game will launch on PS5, and 17% expect their game to arrive on Xbox Series X.

Just 5% are targeting next-gen exclusively, but 1/3 expect to launch on current and next-gen.

Elsewhere in the report, it states that those surveyed felt PC (50%) was the most interesting platform followed by PS5 (38%) and Switch (37%).

Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are slated for release during holiday 2020. Hit up the respective links for everything we know about the new consoles.
