Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime has confirmed that StarCraft II shipped out 3 million units in its first month of release.

The game shipped on July 27 this year.

Development of StarCraft II was announced on May 19, 2007, at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, South Korea. Work began on the game in 2003.

Two full-sized add-ons to the current Terran campaign - the Zerg-based Heart of the Swarm and Protoss adventure Legacy of the Void - are in the works and as yet undated.

Morhaime was speaking in a results call for Activision Blizzard's third quarter, which showed greater-than-expected figures for both revenue and sales.
