A mysterious new sports game has been outed by an interview with SEGA Studios Australia producer Kim Sellentin.

An interview, published on Gamesauce (via GoNintendo), revealed the existence of "an unannounced multi-platform sports title" in development at SEGA's Down Under studio.

SEGA Australia enjoys strong ties with Nintendo's global body, leading to some speculation that the bestselling Mario & Sonic property may be back in development for DS and Wii.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games smashed sales charts worldwide when it released for Wii in late 2007, and exhibited a similarly stellar performance on DS in the following quarter.

Taken as one game, the two hold the Guinness World Record for best-selling gaming character cross-over.
