Rocksmith 2014 Edition can import past tracks and DLC, uses same cable

Ubisoft has taken steps to ensure that picking up the new version of Rocksmith won't make your previous purchases redundant.

In a video Q&A session, embedded below, community developer Mike Madavi confirmed the new game is compatible with the original Rocksmith cable, which is used to hook a guitar up to your PC or console.

The 2014 version will be able to utilise any DLC you purchased for the original game, too, and even import tracks from the first disc. This is quite a boon, as the new edition boasts a more robust teaching mode, so hopeful guitarists will probably want to take advantage of it with as much content as possible.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition is due in October on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will be available in a bundle with a guitar, but there'll be no bass pack this time. Ubisoft has not yet detailed the instrument bundle.
