Report: Ocarina of Time 3D to be shipped in small quantities in Japan

According to Japanese retail sources, the first Japanese shipment of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is expected to be quite modest.

Siliconera reports a Japanese retail blog claimed the initial shipment is to be very small, although precise figures were not given.

The blog apparently suggested Nintendo wanted to avoid a repeat of Spirit Tracks' performance, when a huge initial shipment saw the game in bargain bins relatively quickly, but the comment has since been removed.

It seems unlikely Nintendo wouldn't be able to judge quite accurately the demand for Zelda in its own territory, and it should be noted that Japanese retailers announce fairly regularly that they don't have enough stock inbound, which drives up pre-orders.

Ocarina of Time 3D is a remake of the N64 classic, and is due in Japan on June 16, in Europe on June 17, and in the US on June 19.
