Ratchet & Clank PS4 and the film will both release in 2016.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, developer Insomniac Games said it is hard at work on the new game, which is now expected in northern spring 2016.

"While you might have to wait a bit longer than expected, rest assured we’re using the time wisely to further polish the game to a spit-shine level, " chief brand officer Ryan Shneider wrote.

"With dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments. Really, we can’t wait to show it to you."

Insomniac promised further updates on the game throughout the year ahead.

As for the movie, it will feature the talents of Paul Giamatti as Drek; John Goodman as Grimroth; Bella Thorne as Cora; Rosario Dawson as Elaris and Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion. The voice actors for Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Captain Qwark in the games will return to reprise their roles.

Ratchet & Clank PS4 is a re-imagining of the original game, re-telling the dynamic duo's origin story and closely tying in with the upcoming film. It adds new environments as well as revamping original locations, and includes all-new weapons.

The Ratchet & Clank movie was first announced in 2013, with Sony reiterating a 2015 release date for the film in June 2014 alongside the announce of the PS4 game.
