Quantum Conundrum devs move onto iOS with PIXLD

Quantum Conundrum developer Airtight Games has announced its first iOS release, puzzle effort PIXLD.

The "addictive and deceptively simple" puzzle game is demonstrated in the trailer below, but in short, you chain together blocks of the same colour to try and clear a field as fast as possible, chaining for score multipliers.

The universal app will cost $2 but during its launch window it'll be offered at the celebratory price tag of $1. The puzzler is due for release some time next week, and is the first game of Airtight's new Mobile brand.

"We're not exactly certain why everyone's suddenly going on and on about birds and ropes and temples while we're making history," the press release noted.

Creative director Kim Swift gave a better than usual statement regarding the studio's new direction, apparently impressed by the new sixth-generation iPhone.

"Seriously, have you seen these things? They're like tiny computers. Tiny computers you carry in your pocket. So I'm all like, 'I know this sounds nuts, but guys, let's put some games on there.' And they did. Bam," she said.

"Is it risky betting on an emerging platform like iOS? You bet. But I have a feeling Apple just might be onto something here. Buying a video game that you can play on your phone for less than a cup of coffee? That's just crazy!" she added.
