PlayStation 2 was nine years old yesterday as noticed by the eagle eyes of Kotaku.

The machine launches on March 4, 2000, the Japanese release being followed in October and November of the same year in the US and Europe respectively.

PlayStation 2 has now sold more than 140 million units worldwide, making it easily the most popular under-the-TV games console ever made.
