Leaked PlayStation 5 dev kit photo hits the internet

A picture of a PlayStation 5 development kit has hit social media.

The photograph, which was published on Twitter by user Alcoholikaust with the caption "PS5 anyone?", shows what appears to be two PlayStation 5 kits side by side on a desk. You can also spot what looks like two prototype DualShock 5 controllers.

While console development kits don’t typically look like the final model, these PlayStation 5 devkit looks similar to the patent images which surfaced in August - complete with its odd V-shape design and hefty cooling system. Don't you just want to warm up a slice of pizza on it?

The Verge's Tom Warren confirms that this is indeed a PlayStation 5 dev kit.

Tech-focused outlet Wired has previously gone hands-on with a version of the PS5 controller, describing it as being “an awful lot like the PS4’s DualShock 4” – but there’s some intriguing differences in the functionality of the controller. The major new addition called out are what are referred to as “Adaptive Triggers” – a new version of the familiar L2 and R2 inputs that will supposedly offer greater feedback through the triggers themselves. Also already confirned is that PS5 will be capable of hardware-accelerated ray tracing and compatible with 4K Blu-Ray discs.

PS5 will launch during holiday 2020. Until then, keep up with everything we do know about PS5 through our handy hub page.
