Nintendo already thinking about next-gen handhelds

According to Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo isn't looking to release a revised version of the 3DS, but has already begun conceptualising its true successor.

Speaking to IGN, Miyamoto said he was satisfied with the 3DS hardware in its current form, and shrugged off reports that the firm was working on a 3DS XL or other minor hardware revision.

"I really feel like I'm satisfied with the 3DS hardware as it is. I feel like it's the best for this generation," he said.

He went on to say that the company's more focussed on making a next-gen handheld device instead:

"What we're thinking about right now is probably going to be for a future generation of handheld."

Don't jump your guns too soon though, Miyamoto did make it clear that he feels that there's lot more to be done with the 3DS and 3D gaming in general.
