Modern Warfare 3 engine "beyond" MW2's

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling insists Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's engine is an improvement on Modern Warfare 2's efforts.

"We haven't gone into detail on the engine yet but we've moved beyond the MW2 engine and added a lot of cool stuff for MW3," Bowling said, responding to questions on Twitter.

Modern Warfare 2 was powered by Infinity Ward's IW Engine, as were Call of Duty 2, World at War, and Black Ops.

Although the engine has seen numbered revisions, it is yet to see an obvious overhaul, which has drawn criticism.

Today's trailer gave the first glimpse of Modern Warfare 3's engine.
