Microsoft's said that May 19 will be the day the plug is pulled on the multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach.

The Bungie multiplayer taster is available on Monday to download via Halo 3: ODST, with several new modes and playlists to be added before the end of the beta. They are:

  • May 4 - 'Arena mode' (Ranked 4 vs. 4 Team Slayer matches), plus Free-for-All and Grab Bag playlists, featuring a mash-up of old and new gameplay modes from Halo.
  • May 7 - 'Spartan vs Elite 'Invasion' mode playlist
  • May 14 - 'Generator Defense' mode

Microsoft will also unlock the multiplayer to Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and the Reach beta to Silver members from Friday, May 14 to Monday, May 17.

Halo: Reach itself releases this autumn for Xbox 360. Watch the recent "Birth of a Spartan" short-film here.
