GTA 5 PC is already the second most popular game on Steam

GTA 5 PC is ranked just behind Dota 2 as most popular game on Steam.

GTA 5 has been tearing up Steam's charts for a while now, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise, but at time of writing Rockstar's latest was being played by 168,000 presumably happy gamers.

It had peaked at 196,000 earlier in the day, and we can probably expect the figure to climb as the game goes live around the world.

That puts GTA 5 second on the charts, just behind Dota 2 and well in front of Counter-strike: Global Offensive. Both Dota 2 and CS:GO regularly attract audiences magnitudes larger than competing titles, so for GTA 5 to chart between them is really rather significant.

Of course, we're at the ebb time for CS:GO, and GTA 5 hasn't yet approached CS:GO's peak daily users. But it'll be super interesting to see how it goes over the rest of the day.

Reckon GTA 5 can out-perform the free-to-play Dota 2? I wouldn't put money on it, but let's watch the Steam charts all day anyway.
