Dragon’s Crown was originally planned for development on Dreamcast

Dragon’s Crown wasn't always in the works for PS3 and Vita, according to various concept drawings included in the art book.

According to Vanillaware president George Kamitani, the game was something he's wanted to do since the Dreamcast era in 1998.

Siliconera says that in the artbook you can see elements of the current Sorceress, and Wizard while the female warrior design would later be used as the base in Fantasy Earth Zero, the Square Enix PC title Kamitani worked on as the art director.

NIS America will publish Vanillaware’s latest in Europe on PS3 in northern autumn, and it arrives via Atlus in the US on August 6.
