Here's nine minutes of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate gameplay

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate has broken the traditions of big-budget reveals by showing us some gameplay footage instead of ten hours of cinematic trailers.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate isn't even in alpha yet but Ubisoft seemed happy to give us a glimpse of it in action during yesterday's reveal.

Not content with merely live-streaming the footage, it's uploaded a direct-feed capture. This is so sensible (people are gonna cap it anyway) and so unusual for this kind of promotional campaign that I am feeling a tender warmth in the cockles of my heart for the enormous French publisher.

Enjoy nine minutes of gameplay below, complete with hats, urchins and Victorian-era soot.

Let us hope we're not looking at a vertical slice; we don't want another Watch Dogs-style downgrade kerfuffle.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate hits PS4 and Xbox One in late October, with PC to follow.
