Here's everything shown during today's PlayStation State of Play stream
Sony's second State of Play stream kept things short, but a few interesting new games - and one big title we've been waiting on for some time - were shown off.
State of Play, Sony's answer to the Nintendo Direct, played things pretty low-key in its second outing. While the first State of Play focused largely on VR, this one mixed things up a bit across its brief 12 minute run time. We got a mix of new, smaller titles and new trailers for bigger games that we've been waiting on for some time.
The three highlights, all of which we've written separate posts about, were the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne trailer, the MediEvil trailer, and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer. These were all games we knew were in development, but it's good to see how they're coming along - particularly Final Fantasy 7, which we'll apparently hear more about next month.
Beyond these titles, three new games and a new PS4 model were also shown off. The first title, Predator: Hunting Grounds, kept things vague in its reveal trailer. It's coming in 2020, but no gameplay was shown. The name, and the way the trailer is framed, has us thinking that you'll be playing as the Predator, rather than fighting against it.
Riverbond is a voxel-graphics four-player hack-and-slash game, which looks like some solid fun. The trailer focuses on the eight crossover skins the game will feature, including Shovel Knight, Juan from Guacamelee, the kid from Bastion and Raz from Psychonauts. It also looks like it will feature destructible environments.
The last new game announced was Away: The Survival Series, which sort of looks like a David Attenborough documentary in game form (although the guy on the trailer isn't quite getting there with his impression). You play as a sugar glider that needs to avoid predators and environmental hazards on its journey.
Finally, Sony announced the Days of Play PS4 system, due in June. It's a nice design and features a 1TB HDD, and could potentially end up being a collector's item one day.
So there we go - no new Last of Us 2, and no major new first-party game reveals, but not a bad selection of upcoming titles. With Sony giving E3 a miss this year, it's possible that future State of Play videos will give us more surprises.
In the meantime, let's all go back to waiting for a Final Fantasy 7 remake release date.
