1UP has taken a long hard look at Platinum Games' new hack 'n' slash title for PS3 and Xbox 360, Bayonetta.
"When there's not much happening on the screen, the game feels somewhat like Ninja Gaiden, with certain enemies showing a similar visual style to the monsters from Tecmo's game and one environment that looks like a cathedral," says the piece.
"But when the game ramps up, it gets pretty crazy with flowerpots that shatter in the background and lots of flourishes surrounding attacks.
"Given Kamiya's track record (he was the main guy behind Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Resident Evil 2, as well as Devil May Cry), our expectations are extremely high for Bayonetta, and thus far it looks very cool, but we haven't seen even close to enough to know if it'll be able to stand up proudly next to those games at this point."
Sounds promising. Full thing through the link.
