Ancel: BG&E 2 being developed with as few people as possible to maximize creativity

Good news first: Beyond Good & Evil 2 is definitely alive. If Ubisoft corporate’s overly indulgent “yes” didn’t convince you, perhaps a reassuring pat on the back from series creator Michel Ancel will do the trick.
Now the not-quite-so-good news: Ancel has big, big plans for the game, but he wants to carry them out with a tiny team. Translation: more waiting. A lot more waiting.

Ubidays 2008: Beyond Good & Evil 2 to be more “casual”
Speaking to Next-Gen and Ubidays yesterday, Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot said that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be a more casual game than the original, a beloved title that flopped so hard it nearly broke its nose.
“We saw with Beyond Good & Evil that so many customers were extremely happy with the game,” he said. “We had a different audience at that time. We had more core gamers than casual gamers than we have today.
“We think the game was probably a little too difficult for the general gamers at that time. We’re going to make it more accessible and make sure that it’s really done for the new generation that’s come into videogames.”

Ubidays 2008: Videos of every game
You could damage yourself working through endless stories in a creaking newsreader, but that would be simple duplication of effort. No efficiency there. Let us take the strain. Relax. Kick back. Pop that umbrella into your pina colada and wipe the sunblock from your precious eyes. Then watch a load of videos from Ubidays 2008 on one page instead of 1,400.
After the link you’ll find footage of Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Tom Clancy’s EndWar, Far Cry 2, Soul Calibur IV, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Tom Clancy’s HAWX and Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway.

Update: You can see the video here.
Ubisoft just showed Beyond Good & Evil 2 at the Ubidays press conference. CEO Yves Guillemot said it was the “future of games”.
We saw the main character, Jade, sitting on a car in the desert and the pig chap sleeping in the sun under a paper.
And that was that.
No detail was given on release date or platform.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 in pre-production, says Ancel
According to this JeuxVideo story, Michel Ancel has apparently confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in production for the past year, but Ubisoft isn’t decided on whether or not to move into a production phase.
The story says that between 10-12 people are working on the game.
Don’t blame us if some of this is lost in translation.
Beyond Good & Evil was probably the most criminally ignored videogame in living memory, a genre-busting adventure involving political intrigue, photo-journalism and a hovercraft. Please, in the names of all the baby Jesuses, make this game.
