DICE has detailed a massive update for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on PC and 360.

The PC update is to prepare the shooter for Map Pack 7 for VIP owners, as well as its Vietnam-based multiplayer expansion. The patch should be 2.6Gb in size.

As for 360, it gets bug and balance fixes. Better then nout.

already downloaded and tested. atm it has (as detailed in the patch notes) the red dot and the acog upgrades available for the g3 and the m14 enhaced mod. it feels awesome playing with these upgrades on! as for why the patch is so big I guess it’s because it has the new maps in it. now we just have to wait for DICE to unlock them. oh and it’s free for the PC version. ofc. the map pack not the expansion pack.

Map Pack is free on 360 to anyone with the VIP pass, ie anyone who bought it new and entered the code that came in the box.
