Jaffe: Twisted Metal in development for 18 months

David Jaffe has revealed that Twisted Metal has been in development by Eat, Sleep, Play for around 18 months.
Speaking via Twitter, the developer revealed to fans when asked: “Oh I’d say about 18 months.”
Jaffe has long denied the game being in in development, in fact at one point he even said that he wouldn’t be attending E3 at all.
Twisted Metal was announced at the end of Sony’s E3 conference, and it’s due for release, exclusively on PS3 in 2011.

What’s the point of starting a new company to make the same games you were at the last one?

1) Famous IP = More chances to make money
2) David Jaffe likes his games and his world
3) Profit

some people seriously start their own studios primarily to work on new IPs?

@4 It’s really been in development for 18 months, the problem is that this game is made by 40 people, not 100.

18 Months of development isn’t long for a title that is built from scratch.
A game like Uncharted 2 can be completed within that time frame as the engine had already been built.
If you listen to Jaffe speak in the numerous walkthroughs (preferably 1up’s demo) on the web you’ll get a grasp of how much effort has gone into game concepts, balancing, ideals etc.

This is a video where it shows 25mins of twisted metal ps3 behind closed-doors where he gives the press Q&a and also
describes some of the specials for the cars, and the names of the new characters, its very in depth. And its very cool ppl over the internet thinks twisted metal ps3 is in its final stage build.. however its not because the destruction animations need to be more like hardcor ish.
anyway heres the video http://www.giantbomb.com/e3-2010-undercover-jaffe/17-2799/

The best lesson we can learn from this: do not mess with Pachter. He will TOTALLY ruin your surprise.

Yeah, I feel sorry for Jaffe. Pachter behaved like an ass.

Yep, pachter needs a analyst patch so that he doesnt leak unannounced games lol. But then again alot of us dont believe analyst anyway , but i guess hes the ultimate leaker so its a good thing in some ways depends what it is.. i just think leaking twisted metal shouldn’t of happend.
But if he leaks ff7 remake in HD 3d player models super-detailed i think he should leak that plus itll give square-enix some good coverage of fan spotlight again.
