Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales gets official release date, Gwent coming out of beta

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, the 30-hour card battling RPG, has been given a release date.

In case you missed it, developer CD Projekt RED recently announced that Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales has been spun off into its own, standalone game with a complete campaign.

Thronebreaker started out as a story campaign add-on for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, before it grew into its own thing. In true Witcher fashion, the story will be heavily reliant on narrative and interesting characters.

The events of the campaign will take players to "never-before-seen" parts of the Witcher universe. The story follows Meve, queen of the Northern Realms Lyria, and Rivia, who must defend her throne against an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion. Alongside the card battling, there's also a management layer that'll get you gathering resources to build and expand your army.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales launches October 23 on GOG, followed by December 4 for PS4, and Xbox One. Prices for the three platforms will be announced closer to launch.

But that's not the only news CD Projekt dropped today. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is finally coming out of beta. The full version, including the massive Homecoming update, drops October 23 on PC through GOG, and December 4 on PS4, and Xbox One.
