People are not happy with the Tales of Symphonia PC port

The effort put into the PC port of Tales of Symphonia has not exactly been great.

Tales of Symphonia, the classic JRPG released on the GameCube back in 2003, has finally made its way to PC. The game has been available on Steam for about a day, and already, it's getting panned left and right by many aggravated fans.

The reason for fans' dismay has to do with the port itself, which has all the hallmarks of a terrible PC port. According to the official description, it's based on the PlayStation 3 version, itself based on the GameCube original.

User reviews on Steam, NeoGAF and other forums list a number of issues plaguing the game such as a locked 720p resolution, incomplete localisation, missing or incorrect button prompts, unusually long load times, and even new typos.

The game's frame-rate is also locked to 30, although some have reported the game running at 40fps. "BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. is aware of the various issues affecting gameplay and our production team is working to make sure that these matters are addressed," wrote one developer on Steam's forums.

"Fixes have already begun rolling out; expect to see continuous improvements moving forward with the title. We’ll continue to post updates on this board when they are available."

If you prefer not wait for an official fix and already own the game, you could always try this fix by Peter "Durante" Thoman, the same person responsible for DSFix and other programs that make horrid PC ports a lot less horrid.
