Considering that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has around 74 fighters, with even more to come, it's no surprise that there's a ton of amiibo functionality. Even amiibo for characters that don't appear in the main roster can be used to get bonuses in-game, and it's definitely worth doing so. Super Smash Bros Ultimate amiibo Guide

There are so many characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate that it’s only fair that Nintendo has included a lot of amiibo functionality. There are a few ways that they can interact with the game, and even a way to train them up to fight alongside you. It’s worth studying up if you have any amiibo lying around because chances are there’ll be a use for them, even if they’re not featured as primary fighters in the game. We’ve included everything you need to know below.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate amiibo List - Which amiibo Can You Use in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has 74 characters, so there are a lot of amiibo that you can use in the game. Not only that but thanks to the game’s Spirits system, there are a lot of side characters that can be introduced as well. We’ve listed all of the amiibo you can use in Super Smash Bros Ultimate below, sorted into Primary and Spirits sections.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Primary amiibo

First up we have the main amiibo that you can use in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. These are restricted to fighters that you can play as in the game. There are some fighters that do not currently have Smash amiibo figures yet, but there are plans to release new versions for all of the new characters. Tapping these amiibo means that a fighter will appear alongside you in the game. You’ll need to train them up in the amiibo menu first, but once they start learning the ropes it can be a huge help. Super Smash Bros Ultimate Spirits amiibo

There’s also amiibo functionality for a bunch of characters that do not feature as fighters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Any character that features as a Spirit in Super Smash Bros Ultimate (e.g. Shovel Knight, Tom Nook etc.) can be tapped into the game. When you do so, you’ll get the Spirit for that character, unlocking it without needing to grind Spirits Board or World of Light. We’ve listed some of these characters below:

How to Use amiibo in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

So you've got your collection of amiibo, ready to put into Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but how exactly do you get to the amiibo section? Well, it’s hidden away in the ‘Games and More’ section of the main menu. Just head into the amiibo menu and you’ll be greeted with a brief tutorial on adding your amiibo to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Spirit Upgrading

Another great way to improve your amiibo fighters is to upgrade them with Spirits. All of the Spirits that you earn via Classic Mode, World of Light and Spirits Board can be used to transfer properties to your amiibo fighter. All you need to do is head to the amiibo menu and select Upgrade. You then need to choose the Spirit you’d like to use, though keep in mind that you’ll lose it afterwards. The properties of each Spirit are listed in its details section, so be sure you want the desired effect to transfer over.
