Star Wars Battlefront will bring in kiddies and cynical veterans, says EA boss

Star Wars Battlefront will expand EA's reach to two important groups.

Although there's some overlap between the expected Star Wars Battlefront audience and that of EA's Battlefield series, CEO Andrew Wilson expects the new shooter to have a broader appeal.

Speaking to investors in a briefing transcribed by Seeking Alpha, Wilson said Battlefront "is bringing in two groups that are very important" to the publisher on top of its existing player base.

"One are gamers that have lapsed, traditionally who have been big gamers in the past and maybe haven't played for a while," he said.

"And two, onboarding a new younger age demographic."

In the full comments, Wilson says EA saw lapsed players engaging with the Battlefront beta, and that Battlefront is perhaps more youth-friendly than competing titles.

Convoluted way to say "everyone loves Star Wars", really. Battlefront hits PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 20.
