Someone is working on a fixed camera mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake

Depending on where you stand, ditching the fixed camera angle in Resident Evil 2 Remake may be the best or worst decision Capcom made.

Designing a third-person horror game with limited movement and a closer-than-usual angle does wonders for Resident Evil 2 Remake, but some diehard fans still prefer the unpredictability of the fixed-camera perspective of the original.

For a few weeks now, modder Enveloping Sounds has been toying around with implementing a fixed camera angle to Resident Evil 2 Remake, with some success. Though the creator managed to get it working in some scenes, certain parts of the Remake are simply too dark for it to work.

These section, according to them, are intended to force players to make use of the flashlight. "Much of the environmental detail simply isn't visible, so you'd have to add [tonnes] of light sources around all the blacked out areas for fixed angle to be both aesthetically pleasing AND practical," Enveloping Sounds wrote.

There's also another problem: the game's aiming system was designed with third-person in mind, and taking away control of the camera creates the need for a more accurate aiming system (auto) to compensate, since players won't have the finer aim control third-person provides. The modder is also still tweaking how close or far some of these angles should be.

This is why they have not yet released the mod to the public. But, as you can see in the video below - and several others on their channel - it is possible, which may be cause for celebration for many.

Fixed camera or not, though, some of the game's puzzles may require a bit of help, which you'll find plenty of in our fantastic Resident Evil 2 Remake guide.
