Red Orchestra 2 added to Steam Workshop catalogue

Managing your mods for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad just got a lot easier, thanks to the addition of Steam Workshop support.

Red Orchestra joined the Workshop ranks along with Serious Sam 3, Natural Selection and Garry's Mod, all of which are new to the system.

There are 13 items available for Red Orchestra so far, with the bulk being tutorials for its modding tools. Content is likely to expand rapidly as the developer is holding a map making competition with $35,000 in prizes up for grabs.

Tripwire Interactive is openly friendly towards its modding community, having sprung up from a group of modders itself, and backing a commercial release of DLC stand-alone expansion Rising Storm, originally a series of mods. The developer says it sees "zero downside" to modding and added an SDK to Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad post-launch.

Red Orchestra 2 joins the likes of Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, DOTA 2, Civilization 5, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in supporting Valve's Workshop modding suite.

Thanks, Joystiq.
