Red Orchestra 2 passes classification uncut in Australia

TripWire Interactive has quelled concerns its hardcore shooter Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad would be softened for Australian release.

"After some initial concerns about ratings in Australia, Tripwire Interactive are happy to announce that Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad has been rated MA15+ ["Strong war violence, Gaming experience may change online"] by the Australian Government Classification Board, with no cuts required," a statement declared.

While awaiting classification, TripWire had posted a listing for the game referencing a "low violence" version on the Australia Steam storefront, in case the game exceeded the Australian Classification Board's MA15+ content standards.

In the past, Australian gamers have had to accept censored versions of games considered unsuitable for those under 18, notably Left 4 Dead 2.

Australia is soon to introduce an R18+ ratings category for games, in line with international ratings systems and other media within the country. State attorneys-general are currently nailing down the content guidelines for the new ratings system.

Red Orchestra 2 releases locally exclusively for PC on September 14. It's the follow up to Ostfront 41-45, notoriously one of the most demanding team multiplayer shooters around.
