League of Legends ranked play disabled due to Recall bug

League of Legends developer Riot Games has had to shut down ranked play.

A League of Legends bug with serious game balance effects has brought ranked play offline.

Kotaku reports players recently discovered a bug allowing them to cast Recall (teleport to base) without a charge timer.

Since this allows characters to be instantly removed from dangerous situations, it's game breaking stuff.

Although you can still play casual matches, Riot has disabled ranked League of Legends play while it tries to squash the bug. Unfortunately, the LoL status page suggests ranked matchmaking could be offline for 12 hours.

Ouch. It's better than seeing the ranking go haywire due to exploiters, I guess.
