GTA Online to get North Yankton, Liberty City, San Fierro, Las Venturas DLCs, suggests rumour

According to this rumour, GTA Online could be getting much bigger and more interesting updates in the future.

GTA Online could turn into an MMO-like game with new cities, activities and more. That's according to a rumour originating from the GTA forums. First appearing in August, the long list of supposed leaks were posted by user Softsecret, recently dug up by PCGamer.

Before we get into it, there are a couple of things to note. First, and that goes without saying, these rumours are just that, we can't confirm the user's claims, and the details here should be taken as such. Secondly, the user in question only posted a couple of times on the forums, but one of his earlier posts dates back to 2013, before the launch of GTA 5.

A number of the claims he made in that post did in fact turn out to be true in GTA Online, which is crucial here since we didn't know much about that part of the game before release.

As for the new post, a couple of things stand out. Softsecret lists a biker-themed DLC as one of the add-ons coming to the game. We did get the Biker DLC this month, so this one checks out. The rest talks about a police-themed DLC, a luxury DLC, and others themed updates.

Two map expansions are supposedly planned for GTA Online, according to the user. One for North Yankton and Liberty City, to launch in September 2017. And another for San Fierro and Las Venturas, due for release in October 2018, both are said to be paid add-ons.

According to them, San Fierro and Las Ventures were built during the development of GTA 5, but were later scrapped because of old-gen hardware limitations, and both are still being actively developed. The often rumoured single-player DLC was supposedly replaced with these map expansions for GTA Online, thanks to the success of the mode.

But, here's where things get a little out there, even for a rumour. Softsecret says the two expansions will be paid, priced equivalent to a full game each. A purchase will get you an "open ticket" to each new map.

Some of these have better chances of being a reality than others, but it sure is fun to speculate. You can read the full post at the links above.
