Gothic 4 expansion "indefinitely" delayed, publisher in trouble

JoWooD has announced an "indefinite" delay for the release of Arcania: Gothic 4's expansion Fall of Setarrif due to legal problems.

The expansion was originally due to launch this Friday, March 25, but is now delayed until further notice - and there's a possibility the expansion may not see a release at all.

A released statement says that "diverse legal positions" with German investor BVT are the reason for the delay. The statement adds, bluntly, that the legal situation regarding Gothic 4 and BVT's funding is "unclear."

JoWooD filed for bankruptcy in January, and it's been reported today that troubles are continuing, as a potential investor withdrew its interest in the company.

The Austrian Independent reports that the company still has two investors interested, though.

JoWooD's business development manager Stefan Berger said it was "uncertain whether the game can be released onto the market in its current form."
