Gamesplanet launches Kickstarter alternative, first project is Magrunner: Dark Pulse

Gamesplanet, an independent digital distribution platform, has launched a new crowd-funding platform for independent studios called Gamesplanet Lab. It will also act as a support network for small developers, and the first project to launch with the new initiative is Magrunner: Dark Pulse from 3AM Games.

According to the firm, Gamesplanet Lab gives creators the" necessary tools to develop and distribute the games they believe in," with each project carrying a quality guarantee, because "Gamesplanet Lab selects every project carefully."

Quality control will be assured by a panel of testers chosen from the backers and those who contribute to a project's funding will play "a very important role in ensuring customer satisfaction." They will also be awarded early game access, bonus content, access to VIP forums and more.

Developers will also retain full copyright over the creations, and funding guarantees payment to the team.

As far as 3AM Games' Magrunner: Dark Pulse is concerned, the game is an action-adventure title taking place in a Lovecraftian horror/cyberpunk future.

This game is one of the first projects to be launched on Gamesplanet Lab, and funding ends on August 18. Backers will be awarded with exclusive bonuses.

Here's the blurb on the game:

"In Magrunner: Dark Pulse, the hero Yoshi and his robotic dog Newton enter the Gruckezber Magtech Challenge, a technology competition drawing contestants from around the world with a 1 million credit grand prize. They soon discover that this friendly game has a much darker purpose behind it. Now only this intrepid duo and Yoshi's mutant mentor Gamaji stand between the earth's survival and eldritch annihilation."

3AM Games is made up of former members of Frogwares who worked on the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series.

So far, €21,175 has been contributed, with 21% of the €100,000 funding goal met.
