Europa Universalis IV developer dairy details changes to tech levels

A new developer diary for Europa Universalis IV has been released. In it, project lead Thomas Johansson introduces changes to how players will research technology compared to previous installments in the Europa Universalis series. In the last game, there were over 70 tech levels. This time out, they have been consolidated and made "much more interesting" and historically immersive. It's all explained the video below. Europa Universalis IV will be released in Q3 2013.
