Battlefield 3 to sport "thousands" of custom weapons

Players will be able to customise the more than 50 weapons found in Battlefield 3, resulting in a huge range of options.

In a post on the BattleBlog, DICE revealed "thousands of weapon customization options" available to players of the upcoming shooter.

Each weapon will sport three accessory slots, and the more time you spend using each weapon, the greater the number of option you'll unlock to fill those slots.

Accessory options will include optics, suppressors, bipods, barrels, underslung grenade launchers, underslung shotguns, foregrips, flashlights, and laser sights.

DICE gave the example of a carbine kitted out with heavy barrel, bipod, and a 4X magnification combat scope for use in a supportive, mid-range role, and then another equipped with a suppressor, foregrip, and quick acquisition holographic scope for stealthy types.

Battlefield 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late October. You can check it out if you're at Insomnia43 this weekend.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
