Assassin's Creed movie is split 35% past, 65% present day

The Assassin's Creed movie will, like the games, feature both historical and modern day settings. However, the present day to past ratio will be different than what we've come to find in the games.

Speaking to IGN, executive producer Pat Crowley said that 65 percent of the upcoming movie will be set in modern times, and only 35 percent will take place in the past.

The movie's historical setting is going to be 15th century Spain, as you can see from the trailer.

The Assassin's Creed games have traditionally been made up largely of historical settings, with modern day action being reserved for only a handful of levels.

According to Michael Fassbender, the movie's lead actor, some things had to be done differently. "There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game," he said.

"But we also want to bring new elements to the game [...] This isn't a video game that we’re making. We’re trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce."

The Assassin's Creed movie opens in December.
