First Assassin's Creed movie trailer debuts - watch here

Assassin's Creed is finally coming to the silver screen. After years and years of waiting, we get our first proper look at Hollywood's interpretation of Ubisoft's action adventure blockbuster franchise.

The trailer above debuted during Jimmy Kimmel's show tonight ahead of the film's December 21 launch. We expect many more promos before then, but this first one gives us a glimpse at Callum Lynch, the modern day character whose adventures in the Animus involve his 15th century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar.

For the first time in years there'll be no Assassin's Creed game this holiday season, so this is where you'll have to get your fix. We're not massively hopeful about it, since video games and cinema have a pretty tortured history, and despite Ubisoft's big talk about protecting its properties the Prince of Persia movie was - uh.
