Assassin's Creed 3 senior producer takes leading role at Ubisoft Quebec

François Pelland has been named Ubisoft Quebec's new executive director of development.

Pelland served as senior producer on Assassin's Creed 3 at Ubisoft Montreal before accepting the new role at the sister studio. He was one of the earliest members of the Montreal team, and played na important role on the development of the Splinter Cell series which helped elevate the studio to a leadership position among Ubisoft's many triple-A teams. Pelland's previous roles include senior development director at EA, working on the Army of Two series.

Ubisoft Quebec is described as a "rapidly growing" team with a crew of "technology and production specialists". It's not clear what the studio is up to, but managing director and vice president Nicolas Rioux hinted that Ubisoft has "ambitious plans" for the young team.

"François's arrival will help position us as a leading creator of online, connected and mobile worlds. It is a vital addition as it will enable us to deliver projects that are among the biggest in the industry," he said.

Ubisoft Quebec is currently recruiting. It has contributed to Rainbow Six, Battle of Giants, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed 3 and Might & Magic Duel of Champions.
