Players can choose between speed or resolution in the upcoming Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition.

That’s according to Capcom’s marketing and digital platforms VP William “WBacon” Yagi-Bacon, who posted on ResetEra that the forthcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version of the 2019 hack-and-slash has a load of different performance modes depending on what gamers want.

With ray-tracing turned on, the game supports 4K resolution at 30fps, or 1080p at 60fps. With the fancy graphical effect switched off, you can play at either 4K/60fps or at up to 120fps.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition was announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at Sony’s PS5 Showcase in September. The title costs $39.99 and comes with a bunch of extra features, such as the nefarious Vergil being a playable character and a wealth of fan favourite modes like Turbo and Legendary Dark Knight.

The digital version of the Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is rolling out Day One for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with a physical version to come at a later date.

The original release of Devil May Cry 5 shifted two million copies in its first two weeks on sale.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition isn’t the only next-gen release to feature some kind of fancy performance mode. Developer Insomniac Games confirmed in July that the upcoming PS5 launch title Spider-Man: Miles Morales allows the option to play the web-swinging title at an optional 4K/60fps mode. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X and S will run Halo: The Master Chief Collection at a smooth 120fps at an impressive 4K.

The PlayStation 5 is launching on November 12 or November 19 depending on where in the world you are – you can find everything you need to know about Sony’s new console right here.
