New Sucker Punch job openings suggest a Ghost of Tsushima sequel is in the works

Sucker Punch has begun hiring for its next project.

After the success of Ghost of Tsushima, it’s not hard to imagine the studio’s next game would be a sequel to the Japan-set epic. This appears to be Sucker Punch’s plan, at least judging by some new job openings.

The job ads for narrative writer and associate outsource artist both specifically list familiarity with traditional Japanese culture and history amongst the list of interests that would be nice to have in a candidate.

The narrative writer page stops just short of announcing a sequel, but nonetheless confirms that the person will be responsible for “creating engaging narrative content for our upcoming projects.”

Indeed, this could be for new Ghost of Tsushima content that isn’t a straight sequel, but that’s unlikely given the timeline of these openings. Ghost of Tsushima just received the big Legends expansion, adding multiplayer content for free. This is likely the game’s last major content drop.

Nevertheless, the idea of a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is exciting, particularly if it addresses the original game’s weakest areas: story and open world design.

Until then, we could always replay the game on PS5 at 60fps.
