Minecraft Xbox 360 has sold close to 4.5 million copies
Mojang has announced the XBLA version of Minecraft has sold 4,476,904 copies. The figure represents sales up to the end of November, meaning the game has sold between 40,000 to 60,000 copies per week, since release. The game has also be a constant on the XBL activity charts since it was released, becoming the third most played game on XBL behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Halo 4. Via Gamasutra.

0x10c codes were handed out by Markus “Notch” Persson, in celebration of Minecraft reaching its 8 million sold milestone on PC. The way the codes were handed out though, was a bit tricky.

Minecraft update 1.4 pre-release now available
Minecraft update 1.4, also known as the Pretty Scary update, is now available for pre-release download to prepare”server admins and mod makers,” says Mojang. The developer said since the release of yesterday’s snapshot, a few bugs have been fixed and new sound effects for the Wither, bats, the anvil and the Ender Dragon have been added. Minecraft update 1.4 goes live on Wednesday, October 24.

Minecraft update 1.4 to contain passive bats, new sounds
Minecraft snapshot features have shown off a new mob. It’s a bat, and found in caves in the game. As in real life, they are only active during the evening and are passive creatures which will fly off when disturbed. If you decide to be mean and kill one anyway, they won’t drop anything – yet. Bats are part of October’s Pretty Scary Update, also known as 1.4, which includes the Wither, and other mobs as well as new sounds for mobs, tools, water and footsteps. Thanks, PCGamesN.

Mojang has teased a few more additions to Minecraft update 1.4, among these are potted plants and dyes for your hero’s clothing. Other goodies include a Night Vision potion, an invisibility potion, the ability to build narrower, cobblestone walls, picture frames, and a chance for zombies and skeletons to spawn with equipment.
