By the gods, there's hope for a good Witcher film yet

Those hoping for a decent Witcher movie will be pleased to know Oscar-nominated director and animated Tomasz Baginski is on the case.

While information is rather slim for the moment, thenews.pl reports the film will contain live actors, so it won't be entirely animated - as far as we know.

Platige Image studio, which Baginski is creative director, confirmed the news after it was initially down as a rumor.

The studio has created special effects for Polish productions Antichrist (2009) and Essential Killing (2010) as well as the intro movies to the first two Witcher games and the teaser video for Cyberpunk 2077.

The live action film will be based on the Witcher fantasy novels, and it's the second feature film based on Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher stories since 2001's The Hexer - which was panned by Sapkowski.

Baginski's animated short film The Cathedral was nominated for an Oscar in 2003.
